PROJECTS
Al has created the following:
GOOP
Goop is Al Gu’s debut EP embracing ambient bass music through modular synthesis. Inspired by synthwave and electro, Mort and Goucho reflect rhythmic ethereal analog sounds. Goucho (dreaming) appreciates tempo as a form of sound alteration, changing the atmosphere towards a deep melancholic experience for the listener. Hark presents a club ready track incorporating heavy kicks which has already been test run by the artist at their favourite venue, Sneaky Pete’s. This EP was created with the help of Knockwood Studios on Moog equipment: 2 DFAM’s Matriarch and Grandmother as well as a Roland Juno.
Goop has been reviewed by the Skinny and in Resident Advisor’s weekly music round-ups.
FAERIE CIRCLE
Faerie Circle is an exciting new night to amplify the voices of divine femme and queer performers, reclaiming fast and hard rhythms, providing a safe place to lose ourselves to the night. Featuring special guests, open decks, visual art and hardcore.
Created by al gu and malicedeejay, our first event was awarded RA Pick. Our second event was supported by Summerhall as part of their 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Programme. Faerie Circle was also recommended by the Skinny.
This series of music nights is ongoing.
SLÁINTE MHATH
Slàinte Mhath is an event which showcases a range of electronic music and embraces musical versatility through genre bending performances. Debuting in Berlin’s PAS as a 12 hour cultural exchange between Scotland and German based artists. Both Edinburgh events were awarded RA Pick, one of which was recommended by the Skinny.
